That’s where WESToration comes in. WESToration is a public-private partnership that seeks to revitalize the West Jackson area through home ownership.
What’s involved with WESToration?
This program involves extensive use of the FHA 203K loan. This loan allows qualified homeowners to bundle acquisition and construction costs for home rehabilitation into one loan. The end result? One mortgage and no multiple-loan hassles.
Who’s involved in WESToration?
The star of the show is, well, YOU! The success of this initiative depends upon the decision of homeowners and potential owners to invest in West Jackson.
WESToration organizers include Cornerstone Home Lending, Jackson State University’s Center for University-Based Development, Atmos Energy, Leah Cim Real Estate & Property Management, and Wright Concepts.
How can WESToration benefit me if I choose to stay in West Jackson?
If GOING green is your thing, then saving an existing house is the best solution when purchasing a home. West Jackson has an abundance of character-filled homes that won’t require stripping mother nature of her precious resources (as you may find with building a new home). West Jackson is also adjacent to downtown, so no more gas guzzling commutes to work. In fact, you can grab your bicycle and commute to work with zero emissions.
If you prefer SAVING green, then selecting a low cost home & making energy efficient upgrades will keep your money in your pockets. Home prices in West Jackson are extremely affordable. Plus, West Jackson’s adjacency to downtown will allow you to use your gas money for other things.
Let’s not forget to mention that the traditional method of renovating a home involves obtaining two loans (one to purchase the home and one to renovate). With the FHA 203K loan, you’ll have only one mortgage.

Absolutely! In fact, by choosing a home in West Jackson, you may also qualify for down payment assistance offered by the City of Jackson to first-time homeowners.
