(Our) First Prize

We're giving away 10 of these t-shirts! Read the post to find out how to win one.

Guess what? No, guess again…no, guess again. Okay, seriously, our blog finally has something to give away!

Tomorrow (Tuesday, November 9th) at 6 p.m., The City of Jackson and the Central Mississippi Planning & Development District (CMPDD) will host a public forum at Battlefield Park’s community center to present Economic Concept Plans for Highway 80.  This effort is the result of a $400,000 grant the city received from the U.S. Economic Development Administration last year for the creation of an economic development strategy for Highway 80.

The city of Jackson and CMPDD have met with residents, business leaders, and others interested in the vitality of Highway 80 to gather insight and feedback for the plan.  If you’d like to know some of the results of this effort, you are strongly encouraged to attend tomorrow’s public forum.

So what are we giving away today? Well, the City and CMPDD have given us 10 go80 tshirts to give to some our wonderful readers.

To enter, all you have to do is submit a positive West Jackson comment on this post AND include your desired t-shirt size. Negative comments will be disqualified. Your comment can be something like:

“I grew up in the _______ neighborhood in West Jackson.”

“I went/go to school at _______ in West Jackson.”

Entries must be received by tomorrow, November 3rd, at 6:00 p.m. Ten winners will be chosen randomly from qualified entries. The winners will be notified via email and announced on Wednesday. T-shirts must be picked up by 4:00 p.m., Friday, November 19th. Details on the pickup location will be submitted to the winners; however, the location is in West Jackson. T-shirts must be picked up by contestant as no prizes will be sent via mail. Only one entry per person please!

Also, if you enter, make sure to use your regular email address so that we can be sure to provide you with your password for picking up your t-shirt. Don’t worry, we won’t spam you. No purchase necessary to enter. Void where prohibited.

  2. I grew up visiting West Jackson, and one of my favorite places in that part of the city–and in the city itself!–is the Jackson Zoo.

T shirt size medium. The Highway 80 project sounds good. I was one of many Jackson school kids who visited the Coca-Cola bottling plant AND redeemed Green Stamps nearby with my mom.

  3. I love West Jackson, because of JSU. This place has changed my life and made me and my son better people.

  8. Late to the party, but I don’t mind that I’m out of the running for a shirt. I just wanted to say CONGRATS on putting together such a great blog — you represent your hometown and neighborhood well!

I grew up in Clinton, and back then we came to West Jackson for everything — shopping, eating out, and my dad’s office was there too. I’m so glad to see the revitalization taking place!

  9. I’m gonna visiting Jackson soon. Did I win a t-shirt? Hope so!
