(Our) First Prize
Guess what? No, guess again…no, guess again. Okay, seriously, our blog finally has something to give away!
Tomorrow (Tuesday, November 9th) at 6 p.m., The City of Jackson and the Central Mississippi Planning & Development District (CMPDD) will host a public forum at Battlefield Park’s community center to present Economic Concept Plans for Highway 80. This effort is the result of a $400,000 grant the city received from the U.S. Economic Development Administration last year for the creation of an economic development strategy for Highway 80.
The city of Jackson and CMPDD have met with residents, business leaders, and others interested in the vitality of Highway 80 to gather insight and feedback for the plan. If you’d like to know some of the results of this effort, you are strongly encouraged to attend tomorrow’s public forum.
So what are we giving away today? Well, the City and CMPDD have given us 10 go80 tshirts to give to some our wonderful readers.

I grew up in West Jackson and will always love it. Revitalize my childhood neighborhood!
I grew up visiting West Jackson, and one of my favorite places in that part of the city–and in the city itself!–is the Jackson Zoo.
T shirt size medium. The Highway 80 project sounds good. I was one of many Jackson school kids who visited the Coca-Cola bottling plant AND redeemed Green Stamps nearby with my mom.
I love West Jackson, because of JSU. This place has changed my life and made me and my son better people.
I grew up on first avenue in west Jackson, and I attended Jim Hill located in west Jackson.
I live in West Jackson. I’m a JSU alum and JSU employee and I’m excited about the revitalization that’s taking place in this part of town.
My new favorite place to eat in West Jackson is Chitoes!

Late to the party, but I don’t mind that I’m out of the running for a shirt. I just wanted to say CONGRATS on putting together such a great blog — you represent your hometown and neighborhood well!
I grew up in Clinton, and back then we came to West Jackson for everything — shopping, eating out, and my dad’s office was there too. I’m so glad to see the revitalization taking place!
Thank you so much for the love Jenni, and welcome to the blog! If you have some pictures of some things that were here in West Jackson when you were growing up, we’d love to use a few for our weekly WESTerday Trivia. Let us know.
I’m gonna visiting Jackson soon. Did I win a t-shirt? Hope so!
