Another Successful WESToration Event
On our Facebook Fan Page, we have a tagline that says:
Good things are happening in West Jackson. Greater things are in store.
It is exciting when others take notice! This past Saturday, the WESToration team hosted its second WESToration event. The response was thrilling! Seventy-six people came out to Koinonia Coffee House early Saturday morning to learn about revitalizing West Jackson with 203K and energy efficiency loans.
Not only did those who attended the event learn more about the loans available through the WESToration Initiative, they were also able to take a trolley tour through the charming and potentially charming neighborhoods of West Jackson.
Thanks to all who attended Saturday’s event. If you were unable to attend, don’t worry…we’re planning another one for March, so stay tuned!
Until then, check out the WJTV news story and photos from the event below:
Hi Curnis, I believe this blog and the work in West Jackson are fantastically stimulating. As a matter of fact, in my consulting work I am recommending that each community starts a blog similar to yours. I live in McComb and work in distressed communities so rich in history and they simply need a stimulant, a catalyst. Our friends Whitney Grant and Neil Polen of JCDC, John Poros of MSU, Kristi Hendrix of Midtown Partners, and I are conducting a forum on revitalization, and I am going to use your blog as an example. Plus, our communities have tons of former residents who want to give back. The next forum will feature technology as a part of revitalization and would love to have you down. This is exciting for West Jackson. See you soon.
Thanks for the kind words David! I good to see that the blog is getting some good traction and attention. Let me know the details of your forum by email. Sounds like something I’d be happy to participate in. My email address is under the About tab on the blog. Thanks!
