While the actual name of West Jackson’s newest thoroughfare was the Metro Parkway, people all too often referred to it as the JSU Parkway. Now, city leaders and property owners have agreed to scrap the old name and, instead, rename the roadway in honor of West Jackson resident Dr. Robert Smith, Sr.

There will be a Dedication Celebration of the Dr. Robert Smith Parkway on Friday, June 10. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a brief unveiling ceremony at the intersection of the Parkway and Dalton St., followed by a formal ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at JSU’s College of Business.
