Dr. Tricia Rose is currently a professor of Aficana Studies at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. In 1994 she published, “Black Noise: Rap Music and Black Culture in Contemporary America.”

On Thursday, October 24th community members are invited to come participate in an open dialogue about rap, using her book as the foundation for the discussion. The book sorts out rap and its multiple voices by exploring its underlying urban cultural politics and explores rap as a unique musical form.
