Saturday Morning: Zoo Neighborhood Clean-up, 8:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.
This event is being hosted by the Zoo Area Progessive Partnership and volunteers will meet in front of the Jackson Zoo for assignments. Saturday: 8th Annual Creative Arts Festival, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Chuck D of Public Enemy, 2013 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, to keynote Creative Arts Festival: The Legacy of Freedom Summer at 10:45 a.m. in the JSU Student Center Theater. Saturday: JSU Blue and White football game: 1:00 p.m.
The general public is invited to the Tiger Fest football game beginning at 1 pm. The full-day event will consist of food, fun, music and sports, including musical entertainment by artists Larry Johnson and Beasty Tunes, and several other musical acts.General admission is free for kids ages 10 and under. For ages 11 through 14 admission is $5. For persons 15 and over admission is $10. Admission is free for JSU students with ID.The cost is $25 for tailgaters, $50 for RV’s and $50 for vendors.Gates open at 8 a.m. For more information, call 601-362-0866.
Sunday: Zoo Blues, Gates open at 2:00 p.m.
Performers include Mel Waiters, Lenny Williams, Eddie Cotton, Pat Brown and J-Wonn. Concessions sold. Coolers, blankets and lawn chairs welcome. No glass bottles or outside food permitted.
