Dozens Volunteer at Jackson Zoo
This past Saturday, students, community residents, and friends of the Jackson Zoo showed up to clean up around the zoo in an effort to beautify the area. Over 50 JSU students showed up to assist with the clean up day at the Jackson Zoo. Residents, old and young, stood together in one effort to clean up the corridor leading to Zoo.
Volunteers planted flowers, swept curbs, and picked up trash along Capitol Street. This clean-up event was sponsored by the Zoo Area Progressive Partnership (ZAPP) and Keep Jackson Beautiful. The organizers were really impressed with the turn out of so many JSU students and they were thrilled to see so many students willing to help keep the Jackson Zoo beautiful.
If you are interested in volunteering for the next clean-up day, contact the Center for University-Based Development @ 601-979-5828. Pecan Park Neighborhood Association will be meeting on Saturday, April 26th, from 8am-noon to clean up their neighborhood. JSU students will get community service hours for their participation.
