Welcome Center Hosts Two Great Events, Tuesday & Saturday
The Smith Robertson Museum and Cultural Center was Jackson’s first public school building for African Americans. Recently, there have been exciting changes within the walls of this historic building and the museum’s manager, Pamela Junior, is ready to share all the details during the seminar on Tuesday, July 29th, at Noon.
If visiting museums is on your list of “things to do” this summer, or if you are interested in the new changes at Smith Robertson, please join the discussion.
The seminar is free and open to the community and refreshments will be served. RSVP at 601-979-0883.
August is Art history month and the children at the Boys & Girls club have been working on art pieces over the past few weeks. Students were encouraged to draw a picture of their favorite book that they have read during the summer. On Saturday, the Welcome Center will be hosting the “Art Awards Ice Cream Social” for the Boys & Girls Club from 10-11 a.m.
JSU Art Professor, Jimmy Mumford, will present back to school awards to the top five winners.
The community is invited to join in the fun. Space is limited, so RSVP today at 601-979-0883.
The JSU Welcome Center is located on 1400 J.R. Lynch Street in the JSU Student Center. They also have conference space available for community residents to use. The conference can accommodate approximately forty (40) individuals with the use of additional folding chairs, which are provided by the Center. Conference room attendees are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility.
Use of the facility can only be conducted within the operating hours of the Center.
