The Life Poindexter, Before & After

the life poindexter

In 2008, World of Life Church began rehabbing an abandon building at the corner of Capitol Street and Rose Street. The rehabilitation took almost a year and they tried to restore the building to fit with its architectural detail of the past. The building was built in 1946 and has been several businesses over the years including a bank. At some point the second story was covered by large white panels and the only visible windows were on the first floor.

That all changed with the rehabilitation of the building. Now there are 10 large windows on the second floor allowing for lots of light into the space. The building has been transformed in to a community outreach center called, “The Life Poindexter.” It has been in operation for three years and they assist students at Poindexter Elementary and George Elementary. Over the years they have been able to provide these schools with smart boards, computers, and internet access. They also are able to give families at these schools meals for the weekend.

The Poindexter Life Center is located at 1133 West Capitol Street.

  1. I think this is awesome. I am a partner, and I feel so good knowing that I am helping somebody….I thank God for blessing me to be able to bless someone else.

Thank you for all you do to assist our children at George Elementary. My youngest daughter is one of the children you assist. The snacks you provide help us more than words can express. When their little tummies rumble in after school it really means a lot to have something readily available is so wonderful. It was mentioned that there made be help for Christmas. I need to request aid there as well. I have 2 daughters & they really need bikes 1 20 in & 1 26 in. The bikes they have they have outgrown & no longer work. Please call me. I would love to talk with you & get to know you & offer a more personable thanks. 769-220-3220
