An Emerging Cooperative Network, Cooperation Jackson

lumumba center

The newly established Lumumba Center serves as the coordinating center, or base, for Cooperation Jackson and its overall operations. The primary function of the Lumumba Center is to host the various cooperative development activities of the organization including: community orientation meetings, general membership meetings, working group meetings, and various training’s and skill shares. In addition to hosting the development activities of the organization, the Lumumba Center also serves as the administrative offices of Cooperation Jackson.

Over the last few weeks Cooperation Jackson began the process of cleaning up vacant lots as a first step in building a worker-owned urban farming cooperative business in order to cultivate natural, healthy food in and for the community. The work focuses on clearing the lots for the developing Eco-Village, which is part of their Sustainable Communities Initiative, and preparing for the fall harvest of Freedom Farms Cooperative.
