Jackson Zoo Donates 700 Coats to Those in Need
This past January the Jackson Zoo offered free admission for their “Shed Your Winter Coat Drive.” This was the first year they have held a coat drive like this and over the thirty one days, they were able to donate 700 hundred coats!
The Jackson Zoo partnered with Stewpot and We Will Go Ministries in an effort to support the community and they donated all coats to these organizations.
“The Shed Your Winter Coat Drive was a great success, and we would like to thank everyone who donated items,” said Angela Harris, Marketing Manager, “We look forward to working with Stewpot & We Will Go Ministries in the future on other projects to help the community of West Jackson & surrounding areas.”
The coat drive also helped increase attendance to the zoo. Harris said, “It was great to let people know that the zoo is open year round and with milder temperatures it was pleasant weather to visit the zoo.”
The Jackson Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The mission of the Jackson Zoo is to provide visitors with a quality recreational and educational environment dedicated to wildlife care and conservation.
Hours of operation are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily. For more information, visit The Jackson Zoo at http://jacksonzoo.org/.
