JPS Transports 23,000 Students Daily

The primary goal of the Jackson Public Schools (JPS) Transportation department is to transport students safely to and from school each day. The JPS Transportation department is the largest department of its type in the state of Mississippi. The Transportation department employs approximately 350 employees, and has a total of 346 buses.

Each day, the department transports over 23,000 students. This number indicates that 73 percent of all students enrolled at JPS are riding buses to and from school.

This is a friendly reminder to slow down when entering a school zone or stop when students are getting on and off buses.
