Expungement Workshop, Tonight

The Mississippi Access to Justice Commission will co-sponsor a free Expungement Workshop with the Mississippi Association for Justice on October 4, at the Metrocenter Mall
at 5:30 p.m.

Individuals interested in learning about what qualifies for expungement in Mississippi, the process for obtaining an expungement, and how you can get an attorney to help you prepare the legal documents necessary for clearing criminal records should attend.

An expungement proceeding is a type of lawsuit in which a first time offender of a prior criminal conviction seeks that the records of that earlier process be sealed, making the records unavailable through the state or Federal repositories.

Attendees who have charges that can be expunged and meet certain income guidelines will be invited to a legal clinic in November, where attorneys will prepare expungement documents for filing in court.
