New Tiny-Home Movement Comes to West Jackson

Emerging developers, Ashlee and Akili Kelly, are bringing a national movement to West Jackson. The Jackson State University alums have purchased several lots in the University Park neighborhood to create Jackson’s first tiny-home community. Two weeks ago, the Kellys held a groundbreaking ceremony for their first homeowner – Sarah Stripp. The new 800 square foot home will have all of the modern amenities including a secondary loft.

Historically, the houses in West Jackson are on average 1,000 square feet. The new development can be called a remix – West Jackson Tiny-Home 2.0. It will pay homage to the past by creating affordable housing in a new and creative way.
