West Jackson CDC Gets Youth Build Grant, Accepting Applications
West Jackson Community Development Corporation (West Jackson CDC) received $1,500,000.00 award from the U. S. Department of Labor for a Youthbuild program beginning January 1, 2020. This is a highly regarded program that provides young people (16-24 years of age) who have dropped out of school in the Jackson, Mississippi area with vital education, career pathways, and leadership training. The West Jackson CDC has administered Youthbuild since 1997.
Below is an Enrollment Application and a small Academic Work Packet that includes Reading, Mathematics, Science, and Language Arts which will assist applicants in preparation for the entrance TABE test. If interested, complete the application & academic work packet in its entirety and mail to: West Jackson CDC, 1328 Highway 80 West, Jackson, MS 39204.
Each eligible applicant will be paid a stipend of $200.00 each two weeks for participating in the program during an 8 month period. FYI, there will be 3 periods of 8 months cycles with 28 participants in each period of 8 months serving 84 participants in total.
