Second Annual Men of Excellence Gala Connects & Inspires, Friday

Frederick Douglass said, “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” It is in that spirit that you are invited to support the second annual Men of Excellence Gala, hosted by Rosemont Human Services, Bottom Rebuilders, and Representative Zakiya Summers. This event will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Jackson Metropolitan Ministerial Alliance School for Workforce Development, located at 3171 Robinson Road (behind Chuk Stop) in Jackson. Doors open at 6 p.m., followed by Walk the Black Carpet Fashion Show at 6:45 p.m., and the program begins at 7:30 p.m. Ten One Strategies is the lead sponsor.
The gala will feature Institute for Democratic Education in America Executive Director Albert Sykes as the keynote speaker. Sir Roderick “Gee” Wheaton will also be honored for the contributions he has made to uplift the community. The show’s sharpest outfit will win a $50 gift card.
“This program has a two-fold purpose. We want to inspire and motivate boys and young men by showcasing men from the community in a formal setting and fundraising for the Fellowship School for Workforce Development,” said Rep. Summers. “Making positive connections between young men and men is integral to our vision of transformation.”
“The Alliance’s training center will train young people and those ready to work from across the city of Jackson in various trades and help them to become productive citizens,” said Jimmie Edwards, Alliance President and pastor of Rosemont M.B. Church. “We are grateful to all of our supporters and we look forward to bringing this project to fruition.”
Students may attend at no cost. Adults have a very small entry fee of $5. Donations are strongly encouraged and can be mailed to Rosemont Human Services, 3930 Officer Thomas Catchings Dr., Jackson, Ms 39209 or cashapp to $zsummcash.
