About

The Emergence of West Jackson blog was created by Jackson State University’s Center for University-Based Development. This blog is dedicated to the positive things that are happening in West Jackson (Mississippi).  To the good news, people, and things to do in the Westside–this blog is for you.  For the good people reading this who are interested in learning more about West Jackson but don’t live here: don’t worry, this blog’s for you too! Enjoy!

(Please bare with us as we make some “cosmetic” changes to the design of the website).

Features: Here are a few things you will discover when browsing the WestJxn Blog. Each feature will be rotated on a bi-weekly basis.

WESTerday Trivia– This is a game that quizzes you on facts pertaining to the West Jackson Community. There will be a multiple choice question posted at the beginning of the day and you have the opportunity to answer the question throughout the day. At the end of the day the answer to the question will be posted and in some cases you could win a prize for the correct answer.

The Menu– This post will highlight the restaurants in West Jackson. It will feature one delicious menu item from a West Jackson restaurant. We LOVE suggestions, so if you just ate something that was finger licking good, let us know!

A Good Deed– This post will showcase an individual or organization that is positively impacting the West Jackson Community. The deed can be as small as helping someone cross the street, or a large scale project impacting several lives. There are tens of thousands of residents in West Jackson and on any given day, someone is helping. We want to showcase all the good deeds occurring in your neighborhood. If someone has touched your life in someway, large or small, tell us and we will feature them on the Blog.
