National Night Out Pictures, Washington Addition & Pecan Park

Last Tuesday, dozens of community residents showed up to celebrate National Night Out. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.

Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.

Above are some pictures from the National Night Out Parties in Washington Addition and Pecan Park. This year Mayor Tony Yarber gathered several city officials and community residents and they rode around to each neighborhood party. He transported his colleagues in two J-Tran buses and several police cars. Residents were able to get some face to face time with Mayor Tony Yarber and Jackson Police Chief, Lee Vance.
