Poindexter Elementary Gets Garden

pgfinal

This past week Keep Jackson Beautiful helped build a vegetable and fruit garden for Poindexter Elementary School located at the corner of Rose and Robinson Road. Marsha Hobson, Director of Keep Jackson Beautiful, was able to receive a $5,000 dollar grant from Lowe’s to build the garden.

Students from Jackson State University and Hinds Community College as well as other volunteers showed up to complete ten raised beds for the garden. Everything is ready for the children to plant vegetables in the spring. The garden will have butter beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, and fresh herbs. They have also planted some fruit trees around the garden.
