A “Blow Out” Community Transformational Weekend, May 20 & 21

Over the past year and half many residents in West Jackson worked hard to create a guidebook for the West Jackson community. The purpose of the guidebook was to gather information about West Jackson that residents could use to gain political, social and economic power to improve their neighborhoods.

On Friday May 20 & Saturday, May 21 community residents will be hosting a series of events that will actively engage residents to use the guidebook in their neighborhoods.

Friday will feature a cook out, live music, community dialogue and the Zoo Mobile. It will take place at 1433 Grand Avenue from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Saturday, there will be a presentation from the Cooperative Community of New West Jackson. There will also be dialogues from John Knight who is working in Washington Addition and Dr. Mukesh Kumar who will discuss ways to use the planning guidebook. This will take place at 531 W. Capitol St. from 8:30 a.m. to Noon.
