Mrs. Curtisene Gaines Received A Blessing

Mrs. Curtisene Gaines is 78 years old and has lived in her house on Brookside Place for 48 years. When the storms came through a few weeks ago a large tree fell in her backyard creating a hazard.

Mrs. Gaines is on a fixed income and lost her home owners insurance after her husband passed in 2018. She did not know what she was going to do to remove the large tree as she could not afford the repairs.

JSU’s Office of Community Engagement worked alongside Pecan Tree Park Neighborhood Association to try and figure out how to assist.

CareCenter Ministries Mississippi offered to assist. They felt Mrs. Gaines was an important case and offered to assist her in getting the tree removed at no cost to her. They also deep cleaned her kitchen, dining room, and dusted off many of her treasures in her living room.

Mrs. Gaines smiled with great pride when the work was complete because she said, “this is nothing but God”.

Mrs. Gaines retired from JPS after 42 years of preparing meals for students in the cafeteria. She is extremely grateful for the assistance of CareCenter Ministries and feels blessed to be selected for assistance.

CCM MS offers Christ-centered services and programs for individuals facing life-controlling issues. Their programs and services are also platforms to help meet needs within our community and introduce individuals and families to the transforming hope of Jesus Christ.
