CSE Launches 6 New Businesses in Community

The Center for Social Entrepreneurship presented the last cohort of the iVillage Legacy Project to the community of West Jackson on Tuesday, January 9. The momentous occasion marked the launch of six innovative business concepts that promise to reshape the local entrepreneurial landscape.

Over the course of the program, aspiring entrepreneurs honed their skills, developed groundbreaking ideas, and are ready to unveil their businesses to the community.

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation funded the 30-month neighborhood program through a $250,000 grant where 21 people were trained and 16 new businesses were created. According to Dr. Kimberly Hilliard, CSE President/CEO, “We’ve witnessed the lives of individuals, mainly black women, transformed through this extensive training process.” CSE believes that stronger families lead to stronger communities. Hilliard further states ‘this project is a transformative multiplier for West Jackson. It has an intergenerational impact and results in meaningful community development.”
