Spring Planting Day at JSU/Blackburn Learning Garden

On March 20, over 50 students from Blackburn Middle School came out and helped plant for Spring Planting Day. They dug out weeds, carried soil to the beds, and planted all sorts of veggies.

Students planted bell peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, and collard greens that will be up for sell during our next Student-Led Farmers Market set for Friday, May 17, 2024.

The JSU/ Blackburn Learning Garden has been operating since 2017 and plans to continue to instruct the youth on how to raise their own food, along with encouraging all students to participate in nature.
