Capital City Lights on December 5, 2025

Capital City Lights is set to return to downtown Jackson on December 5, 2025, from 4–8 p.m., bringing festive performances, holiday experiences, and community-focused activities.

This year, the celebration moves to Smith Park, giving the growing event more space to expand. Kim Lewis, Destination Development Manager for Visit Jackson, said Smith Park is a better fit for this celebration and that organizers hope it will become the hub for Capital City Lights as the event continues to grow. Lewis added that sponsors help make the event bigger each year, creating a memorable evening that highlights the best of Jackson while supporting local organizations.

Capital City Lights will once again align with the MDAH Christmas by Candlelight Tours, a longtime downtown tradition drawing more than 1,200 visitors annually.

Event Highlights:

Performances by the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, Ballet Mississippi, New Stage Theatre, and more

Local shopping, food, and drinks

Busker-style activities: caricatures, face painting, live poetry, and Frozen character meet-and-greets

Canopy Children’s Services toy drop-off

Expanded tour stops at Smith Park and the Smith Robertson Museum
