In celebration of the reprint of “Jackson State University: The First Hundred Years, 1877–1977,” the Division of University Communications invites the community to History in Conversation on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in the H.T. Sampson Library, 1st Floor Instructional Room.

This special event honors Women’s History Month and highlights the legacy of Lelia G. Rhodes, Ph.D., whose work documented JSU’s first century. Attendees will hear from historians Robert Luckett, Ph.D., Angela Stewart, Hilliard Lackey, Ph.D., and Gailya Porter as they reflect on the university’s journey and lasting impact.

The event will also feature an exhibition of original photos, artifacts, and manuscripts, with limited book copies available for purchase.
