Photos from Spring Planting Day

Spring Planting Day at the JSU/Blackburn Learning Garden was a huge success. Over 100 volunteers showed up to plant in the garden and assist with the overall maintence of the Learning Garden.

They planted tomatoes, bell peppers, squash, cucumbers, banana peppers, rosemary, lavender and parsley. Volunteers also planted flowers and organized the storage units on site.

Volunteer groups included Blackburn Middle School Scholars, JSU Gardening Club, Judge Yemi Kings, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Speech Pathology Students, Social work, Jackson-Hinds County Alumni Chapter, and community residents.

Blackburn Students will be selling these vegetables to the community on Friday, May 8, 2026. Please see flyer for more details below.
